| Raw capacity | 32 PB |
| Cluster maximum | n/a |
| Effective maximum | 1,000 PB |
| Data reduction | Datasheet/product page: 1+ EB maximum effective capacity per cluster (with FabricPool tiering); this is a design figure NetApp says will be fully enabled in a future ONTAP release. No data-reduction ratio stated. |
| Protection | n/a |
| Protection note | RAID layout is managed automatically by AFX; data protection overhead as low as 10%; tamperproof Snapshot copies, synchronous zero-data-loss replication, SnapMirror, AI-powered Autonomous Ransomware Protection. |
| Performance and connectivity | |
| Maximum IOPS | n/a |
| Maximum throughput | 4,000 GB/s |
| Latency | n/a |
| Conditions | 4 TB/s is the per-cluster throughput claim on the AFX product page. AFX TR (performance): about 35 GB/s read and 17 GB/s write per AFX 2K node (ElBencho, sequential). Current limits from the AFX TR 'Maximums and limits' for ONTAP 9.19.1GA: 32 nodes, 27 shelves, 648 drives, 32 PB total capacity (raw_tb_max; NetApp labels it 'total capacity'). The datasheet lists 128 controllers and 52 enclosures as architectural limits for future releases. Minimum node count for AFX 2K not published (the AFX 1K install docs state a 4-node minimum). Controller NVRAM 128 GB. 'ib' denotes NFS over RDMA. Datasheet power is given only as 6.62 A typical at 200-240 V, so power_w is null. Earlier AFX 1K nodes are not catalogued separately. |
